The history of the harp, can be traced back to 5,000 years ago. It can be said that almost every human group had, at some point, a musical instrument that resembled harps. They were important in Ancient Egypt, in Europe during the Middle Ages, in Africa and South Asia and remain very important in Latin America today. Various types of harp have been developed throughout history and the symphonic version of this instrument used today was reached in the early 19th century. The harp was then able to play in all the existing tones and gained stature as a soloist and orchestra instrument in the field of concert music. The 20th century saw many improvements in the structure of the pedal harp. He also saw the emergence of electric and midi harps, which brought new sounds and possibilities for execution. (RENSCH, 2008; SILVA, 2001).

The harp, like any other harmonic instrument, can be used to play an accompanying melody, to perform only the melody or accompaniment, to perform a polyphonic stretch with two or more voices, to perform different sound effects, among other sound possibilities (RENIÉ . 1966)
